TYT MD-280, MD-380, MD-UV380, MD-390 MD-2017 and TH-UV88 Driver and Programming Software V1.84 Installation Instructions

Note: Installation instructions for TYT TH-7800 and TH-9800 mobile radios are located in the Programming Software -> Mobile Radios -> [model] -> USB Driver sub-folder for each model. the Installation instruction file is called readme.txt.

To begin, you will need the following items:

- TYT MD-280 DMR Handheld Transceiver, MD-380 DMR Handheld Transceiver, MD-UV380 Dual Band DMR Handheld Transceiver, MD-390 DMR Handheld Transceiver, MD-2017 Dual Band DMR Handheld Transceiver or TH-UV88 Dual Band Analog Handheld Transceiver.
- TYT USB Programming Cable Model TYT-PROG (W13-K for TH-UV88 only)
- USB cable driver (included with TYT-PROG or W13-K on the CD)
- MD-280, MD-380, MD-UV380, MD-390, MD-2017 or TH-UV88 Programming Software (also available from TYT)
- A computer with Microsoft Windows XP,Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 installed

Note: Use the correct Programming Software for the radio to be programmed.

1. To start, the computer should be on and radio should be off.

2. Install the correct programming software for the radio located on the CD under the Programming Software folder or download it from TYT. The programming software for the MD-280 is located in the Programming Software -> MD-280 sub-folder. The programming software for the MD-380 is in the Programming Software -> MD-380 sub-folder. The programming software for the MD-UV380 is in the Programming Software -> MD-UV380 sub-folder. The programming software for the MD-390 is in the Programming Software -> MD-390 sub-folder. The programming software for the MD-2017 is in the Programming Software -> MD-2017 sub-folder. The programming software for the TH-UV88 is in the Programming Software -> THUV88 sub-folder.

3. Plug the USB cable into an available USB port on your computer.

4. Plug the USB programming cable into the transceiver and turn the transceiver on. The computer should detect the cable and search for the appropriate driver automatically. Be patient, the search may take a few minutes to complete.

5. If your computer is unable to locate the driver or does not have a connection to the Internet, install the USB programming cable driver from the CD.

- Locate the USB programming driver. If you purchased the genuine TYT USB Programming Cable from Buy Two Way Radios, the driver will be on the Buy Two Way Radios TYT Driver and Programming Software CD with these instructions. Insert the CD, and go to the USB Driver folder.

- Install the appropriate driver for your operation system. 32-bit versions Windows require the x86 driver. 64-bit versions of Windows require the x64 driver.

6. Run the programming software for your radio.

Click the Download From Radio button or click Program -> Read Data on the menu bar. A pop-up window with a blank progress bar and the buttons OK and Cancel should appear. Click OK. Your transceiver should be connected to the computer and they should now be able to communicate with each other. The program should download the data from the radio. When it completes the data transfer, Read data succ! will appear on the screen. Your transceiver is now ready to program through your computer.

To Write to the radio, click Program -> Write Data. The program should upload the frequencies and settings to the radio. When it completes the data transfer, Write data succ! will appear on the screen. Your transceiver is now ready to use.

If these instructions are followed correctly, you should not have any difficulty connecting the radio to your computer. After the initial setup, future connection to the computer should be a matter of simply plugging in the USB programming cable and running the programming software for your radio.
